Military and civilian personnel have the right to a safe and health workplace. Industrial Hygiene conducts workplace evaluations to ensure occupational hazards are anticipated, recognized, evaluated and controlled. The Industrial Hygienist focuses on worker protection, aiming to prevent and control occupational injuries and illnesses by developing and implementing practical solutions. This office evaluates noise, lighting, ventilation, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation health hazards, ergonomic risk factors, workplace contaminants and indoor air quality.

Industrial Hygiene offers classes on topics such as workplace health and safety, respiratory protection, asbestos, lead, mold and selection and proper use of personal protective equipment.

Scope of Service

  • Conduct workplace evaluations to ensure occupational health hazards are anticipated, recognized, evaluated, and controlled.
  • Prevent and control occupational injuries and illnesses by developing and implementing practical solutions.
  • Promote good industrial hygiene work practices in military and civilian populations.
  • Conduct advanced and sustainment workplace health and safety training.
  • Disseminate and communicate targeted health and safety information.
  • Work cooperatively with other Army programs to ensure compliance with applicable Federal and state laws and codified regulations.
  • Reduce costs associated with lost-time, medical treatment and surveillance, and workers’ compensation.
